Hi @neyobtw,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Steps to Disable Kernel DMA Protection:

Access UEFI or BIOS Settings

Turn Off Your Laptop:

  • Shut down your HP Omen laptop completely.

Turn On and Enter BIOS:

  • Turn on the laptop and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press F10 to enter the BIOS setup.

Disable Secure Boot and TPM

Find Secure Boot:

  • In the BIOS menu, navigate to the Security tab.
  • Locate Secure Boot and set it to Disabled.

Find TPM Settings:

  • Under the Security tab, locate TPM Device and set it to Hidden or Disabled.

Kernel DMA Protection Setting

Navigate to Advanced Settings:

  • In the BIOS menu, navigate to the Advanced tab.

Find DMA Settings:

  • Look for settings related to DMA such as Kernel DMA Protection or External Device Management.

Disable the Setting:

  • If the option is available, set Kernel DMA Protection to Disabled.

Safety Precautions

Important: Keep in mind that disabling Kernel DMA Protection can expose your system to potential DMA attacks. If you do not have a specific need to disable this feature, it is recommended to keep it enabled for your system's security.

Save and Exit BIOS

After making the necessary adjustments, make sure to save your changes:

  • Press F10 or follow the on-screen instructions to save your changes.

Exit BIOS:

  • Exit the BIOS menu and restart your laptop.

Possible Issues and Solutions

Unable to Find the Option:

  • If you cannot find the Kernel DMA Protection setting in the BIOS, it might be locked by the manufacturer. Contact HP Support for assistance.

BIOS Update:

  • Sometimes a BIOS update can provide additional settings or fix issues with existing ones. Check for BIOS updates using HP Support Assistant or manually on the HP Support page.

I hope this helps.
