Hi @CWBillow,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
Activating or deactivating the Scroll Lock function on an HP OMEN 17-an110nr laptop can be a bit tricky, especially since many modern laptops don't include a dedicated Scroll Lock key or might have it mapped to a different key combination. Here's how you can manage the Scroll Lock function on your device:
1. Check for a Dedicated Scroll Lock Key
- Inspect Your Keyboard: Look closely for a key labeled "ScrLk", "Scroll Lock", or an icon resembling Scroll Lock. On some laptops, this key might be combined with another function key (e.g., F12, C, S, or K).
2. Try Common Key Combinations
If there's no dedicated Scroll Lock key, try the following key combinations:
- Fn + C
- Fn + S
- Fn + K
- Fn + Shift + C
Note: The exact combination can vary by model. Press and hold the Fn key along with each of the above keys to see if Scroll Lock is toggled.
3. Use the On-Screen Keyboard
If the physical keyboard doesn't provide a straightforward way to toggle Scroll Lock, you can use Windows' On-Screen Keyboard:
Open the Run Dialog:
- Press Windows + R on your keyboard.
Launch On-Screen Keyboard:
- Type osk and press Enter.
Enable Scroll Lock Key Display:
- If the ScrLk key isn't visible:
- Click on the Options button on the On-Screen Keyboard.
- Check the box for "Turn on numeric keypad" (this often reveals additional keys).
- Click OK.
Toggle Scroll Lock:
- Click the ScrLk key on the On-Screen Keyboard to activate or deactivate Scroll Lock.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @CWBillow,
Please find the remaining steps below.
4. Use a Keyboard Shortcut with AutoHotkey
If you frequently need to toggle Scroll Lock and prefer a keyboard shortcut, you can use a tool like AutoHotkey to create a custom shortcut:
Download and Install AutoHotkey:
- Visit the AutoHotkey website and install the application.
Create a New Script:
- Right-click on your desktop, select New > AutoHotkey Script, and name it (e.g., ToggleScrollLock.ahk).
Edit the Script:
Right-click the script file and choose Edit Script.
Add the following lines to set up a custom shortcut (e.g., Ctrl + Alt + S):
Save and Run the Script:
- Save the file and double-click it to run. Now, pressing Ctrl + Alt + S will toggle Scroll Lock.
5. Check BIOS or Firmware Settings
In rare cases, certain BIOS or firmware settings might affect key mappings:
Access BIOS/UEFI:
- Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (often F10, F2, or Delete) during boot to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
Review Keyboard Settings:
- Navigate through the BIOS menus to check for any keyboard-related settings that might affect key functions. Note: Be cautious when changing BIOS settings.
Update BIOS/Firmware:
- Visit the HP Support website for your specific model to check for any BIOS or firmware updates that might address keyboard issues.
While the Fn + F5 combination adjusts the volume on your HP OMEN 17-an110nr, Scroll Lock might be accessible via a different key combination or through the On-Screen Keyboard. If hardware key combinations don't work, using software solutions like the On-Screen Keyboard or AutoHotkey can effectively manage the Scroll Lock function.
If you're still unable to toggle Scroll Lock:- Reach out to HP Phone Support for assistance.
