Hi @Gloriak2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand the Fn + Esc key combination on your HP Envy 17 laptop isn't displaying the serial number, here are a few alternative ways you can find it:

Look on the bottom of the laptop: There is often a sticker with the serial number, product number, and model number located on the underside of the laptop. Look for a barcode sticker with these details.

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant app on your laptop.
  • If you don't have it installed, you can download it from the HP Support website.
  • Launch the app, and it should show the serial number on the main screen under My Devices or System Information.

Access via BIOS:

  • Restart your laptop and press the F10 key repeatedly as it powers on to enter the BIOS.
  • In the BIOS screen, look for a section like System Information. Your serial number should be listed there.

Use Windows Command Prompt:

  • Open the Command Prompt (you can search for it by typing "cmd" in the Start menu).
  • Type the following command wmic bios get serialnumber and press Enter
  • This should display the serial number.

Check the original packaging: If you still have the original box or packaging, the serial number is often printed on the label.

  • Refer to this document for steps to find the product details.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
