HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cr0000 (537Z9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello:

Not pleased with HP Canada. I have an HP 17.3 Touchscreen Laptop. Over the few weeks Windows Updates have not been installed. Spoke with tech support who was unable to resolve the issue as a recovery USB flash drive is required. I had one with 64 GB of storage whatever the support agent attempted to download and install on the USB wasn't enough to resolve the issue. The entire operating system needs to be installed. I have the original warranty and purchased an extending warranty which at the time of purchase was presented as sufficient to cover all issues with the laptop should they occur. That isn't factual because I only have one laptop as I am single and HP has only the recovery in the cloud and what the tech was trying to complete didn't work I had to pay $75 and have no laptop for 3-5 business days. The extended warranty was sold to me under the pretense that it would cover fixing the laptop if something occurred. How many questions must a consumer ask prior to making a purchase. I didn't know buying and extended warranty required asking every possible situation that would cause an issue. Calling HP or looking online it wants you to use the online assistant. Calling into HP all you hear is smart friends. I was not given the option to buy smart friends. Everything with HP is request to spend more money. HP won't be a brand I rush to buy again

I am sympathetic as I too have had my issues with HP warranties.

I won't buy any warranties from anyone as they never seem to help.

Anyway, try this.

From any computer, download the latest ISO of Windows 10/11.  Get Rufus (www.rufus.ie - I use the tiny portable app), then 'burn' (create) and bootable USB key with the latest image.  Make sure your BIOS defaults are good (check secure boot, boot from usb, etc,), the install the Rufus/Win10-11 key and hit the boot options key during power up (ESC, F9, F12, - can be different on different models), then follow the options for a clean install.  BLOW AWAY any existing partition as you will save space plus you don't need the crapware.

Caveats...make sure you install the proper version (pro/home etc) during installation and in the partition definition section, delete any/all HP partition and to a clean install.

Note: you may not have the drivers for the network cards (or touchpad, or bluetooth, etc), so either have those on the same USB bootable key, use a wired network (those usually work) or run HP Support Assistant / Windows Update after the basic install.

Note, I ALWAYS blow away whatever is on ANY computer and I don't like all the preinstalled crapware all OEMs install, the computers always run better.

Good luck
