Hi @Anitamay,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing issues with cleaning your web browser on your HP 14 Inch Laptop PC. Red crosses typically indicate that the cleaning process may not have been successful or there might be an issue with the cleaning tool you're using. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

  • Try a Different Cleaning Tool: If you're using a specific cleaning tool or utility, try using a different one. There are various tools available, such as CCleaner, BleachBit, or the built-in cleaning features in some web browsers. Make sure to download tools from reputable sources to avoid potential security issues.
  • Update Your Cleaning Tool: Ensure that your cleaning tool is up to date. Sometimes, issues can be resolved by simply updating the software to the latest version, as updates often include bug fixes and improvements.
  • Check Browser Settings: Make sure that your web browser is configured correctly. Some cleaning tools may require specific browser settings to be adjusted. Additionally, you can manually clear your browser's cache, cookies, and other temporary files through the browser settings.
  • Run a Full Antivirus Scan: It's a good idea to perform a full antivirus scan on your laptop to rule out the possibility of malware affecting the cleaning process. Malware can interfere with system processes and the functioning of cleaning tools.
  • Check for Disk Errors: Use the built-in Windows tool called "Check Disk" to scan and fix disk errors. Open a command prompt with administrative privileges and type the following command:

chkdsk /f

  • Follow the on-screen instructions and restart your computer if prompted.
  • Disk Cleanup: Use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool in Windows to remove unnecessary files. You can access it by typing "Disk Cleanup" in the Start menu search bar.
  • Reinstall the Cleaning Tool: If none of the above steps work, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the cleaning tool. This can help resolve any issues with the software.
  • Check for System Updates: Ensure that your operating system is up to date with the latest updates. Sometimes, system updates can address compatibility issues with cleaning tools.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
