Good day to you all!

I installed a fresh Windows 10 copy on a DOS HP Victus, and I managed to sort out all driver problems except one - PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller is still listed among "Other devices" in device manager, and from stuff I read online it is an integral part of a working system and it would be unwise to simply ignore it. I actually found quite a bit of information regarding this particular issue and drivers for it, the problem is - all of it was for Intel chips, and I am a proud owner of the AMD Ryzen AI 5 340. As you could understand, my tech proficiency border is at installing windows, so can someone more tech savvy than me help, I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you in advance!

Hi:

Installing the W10 AMD chipset drivers for Ryzen processors should work:

Unfortunately it doesn't fix the issue

Please post the hardware ID for the  PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller so I can figure out what driver it needs.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:

I'm surprised that you got as far as you did by installing W10 because your notebook is not supported by HP for W10.

I could not find any HP business class notebooks which usually have W10 drivers for that device, which I believe needs the AMD Neural Processing Unit (NPU) Driver.

It seems like the only driver for that device is for W11, so if trying to manually install the W11 driver doesn't work, you will probably have to take the free in-place upgrade from W10>W11.

It appears that a similar driver file is used for multiple versions of W11, so you may as well try the newest version first and then the oldest version.

Microsoft Update Catalog

All of the files are cabinet files, and have no executable, so you will have to install the free 7-Zip file utility and then use it to extract the driver files from the cabinet file so you can try manually installing the driver as follows:

Download any of the files from the above site.

After you install 7-Zip and downloaded the driver file, right click on it and select 7-Zip from the items on the menu:

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the cabinet file into its folder name.

After that is done, go to the device manager.

Click on the PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that 7-zip created.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and see if the W11 driver will install on W10.

Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file which shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted:

[IpuMcdmDriver.UserMode]
maize.dll
tvm_ipu.dll
tvm_ipu_runtime.dll
[IpuMcdmDriver.UserModeAMD]
xrt-smi.exe

[IpuMcdmDriver.Mfg.NTamd64.10.0...22000]
%IpuMcdmDriver% = IpuMcdmDriver,PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_1502
%IpuMcdmDriver% = IpuMcdmDriver,PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_17F0

As far as I know windows 10 and 11 drivers are generally supported between both systems, but I tried your method and updater doesn't seem to find required drivers there. A shame, because I find windows 11 rather upleasant and wouldn't want to update

Well, it is what it is.

If you ever decide to install W11, then you will need this driver:

Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb3000 (A8RU1AV) Software and Driver Details

As you initially suggested, that is probably a pretty important device that you will be doing without.

Its really unfortunate that the issue is unresolvable in current circumstances, but I'm still really thankful for your input and appreciate it a big lot! Cheers and have an amazing day
