Does the Microsoft word on my Microsoft 365 program have PDF conversion and editing or do I have to buy it. My old computer had it and  did it with no problem

Hi @blackat1251,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you’re checking whether Microsoft Word in your Microsoft 365 subscription can open and edit PDFs, and whether an additional purchase is required. Let’s go through a few points to clarify this.

Check your Microsoft 365 subscription type
Microsoft Word included with an active Microsoft 365 subscription can open and edit PDF files.
No separate PDF add-on is required for basic PDF editing inside Word.

Verify PDF opening and editing in Word
Open Microsoft Word, go to File > Open, and select a PDF file.
Word will convert the PDF into an editable Word document automatically.

Understand the editing limitations
Word supports text edits, basic layout changes, and saving back to PDF.
Advanced PDF features (complex forms, scanned PDFs without text, or heavy graphics editing) may not convert perfectly.

Compare with your old computer behavior
If your old computer edited PDFs without issues, it was likely using the same Word feature.
Differences are usually due to Word version, subscription status, or the PDF’s complexity—not a missing purchase.

Confirm this is not an HP product limitation
PDF conversion and editing in Word is controlled by Microsoft software, not HP hardware or drivers.
If the feature is missing or not working as expected, you’ll need to reach out to Microsoft support or check your Microsoft 365 account status.

This guide covers only HP-related clarification. Since the feature depends on Microsoft Word and Microsoft 365, any further changes or licensing questions should be addressed directly through Microsoft.

I hope this helps.
