I am experiencing this issue as well. After unboxing, fully charging, and turning it on for the first time last weekend, needless to say I was quite surprised when last Thursday the laptop refused to power on. After plugging it in, I learned it was because the battery had completely discharged in less then a week even though the system had been shut down (not in standby) during that time. My BIOS version is F.10.

My best thought to get more attention is we should put in support tickets with HP and to continue to post in threads like these (or on other forums) as more users posting will get more visibility on the issue.

I got similar power drain issue when the laptop was power off. Also, my laptop had the static noise issue(when the power adapter is connected), so I believe something is wrong with the power part(s) within the laptop.
I asked about the noise issue in this forum but so far no one replied:
Their customer support is really suck! Agreed to exchange, but kept selling other laptop specs with much higher price…
I think we should fight for better support.

My kill-a-watt meter reports 0.5 watts when laptop is off. this is an easier way to diagnoise the problem without even checking on the battery results. I don't think the EPA would approve if every single HP of this mode wastes half a watt when the laptop is off. If the EPA finds out, they may take back their EPA stamp of approval or whatever rebate HP may receive.
