Hi,
I dropped my laptop this morning, and now when I try to boot, I get a 3F0 error.
The laptop casing has some cracks too ... 😞
I tried to run the Diagnostic on the hard disk ... but on pressing F2 and selecting Hard-Disk ... I get the SMART: Not Installed.
I then tried to plug in a different 7200rpm sata drive into the laptop( originally it was a 5400rpm) to check if the rest was alright. It still shows me the 3F0 error.
I tried putting the drive from the dropped laptop on to the other machine and that is not recognising it.
my questions ...
1. How do I confirm the drive is gone? and I need a replacement.. If I get a replacement then how can I transfer the Windows 10 OS there? I do not have any keys etc with me.
2. Why is the 7200 sata drive I plugged in is not working on this dropped laptop. would there be any other issues?
Thanks

So the hard drive that was in the laptop you dropped will not spin up when placed inside another laptop? And if you put a known good hard drive inside the one you dropped, it does not spin up or recognize the new, known good hard drive? If that is correct, you have damaged the motherboard. It was a serious drop it sounds like.

Thanks Huffer,
Yes, the harddrive from the dropped laptop does not spin up on the other laptop. I do hear some sound like it is trying to run. I guess it is gone.
And Yes again, the good hard drive on the dropped laptop still gives me the Hard Disk not found.
It was a 2m drop and landed on the bottom left edge, close to where the Hard drive is.
Do I have to find some money for a new one?
