Hello !
I'll try to make it clear as much as i can...
My Pavillion 15-p289sa notebook has (A10-5745M APU with Radeon HD 8610G Graphics card) and a linked Radeon R7 M260 Graphics card
Anyway... the HD 8610G card is old and not supported anymore (Legacy) unlike the R7 M260 which is still supported in new drivers till this day.
So both drivers that HP provided and AMD suggests are actually for legacy drivers
the R7 is having performance issues and almost anygame will lag frequently at least.
There was a time when i could run many games smoothly but unfortunately i have no clue which driver could get the R7 to perform that powerful and still stay compatible with the HD 8610G...
I have the latest HP provided update to BIOS installed.
And here's a list of drivers i tried and none of them could perform good:
- whql-win10-64bit-radeon-software-crimson-16.9.2-sep29
- whql-win10-64bit-radeon-software-crimson-relive-17.1.2-feb6
- amd-catalyst-15.7.1-win10-64bit
- amd-catalyst-15.11.1beta-64bit-win10-win8.1-win7-nov14
- non-whql-64bit-nieg-radeon-crimson-16.2.1-win10-win8.1-win7-feb27
and finaly, the one HP provided on the product drivers: - sp72722(AMD)
I even tried to install legacy driver then update the R7 from device manager referring to the latest driver but it can't install without errors or crashing
By the way... HP driver completes installation but gives a warning in the end... i'll add the content of the log here:

Well... I couldn't contact HP support from here. but i made some progress
I ignored the fact that HD 8610G is dominant and installed the new driver for the R7 and it installs fine but it updates both GPU devices to this driver.
so the only case i could have 2 different drivers one for each device is by manually referring the 8610G to another driver dated 26/6/2016
But now the r7 remains dated 25/1/2017 with the new driver
now AMD radeon settings doesn't open nor give any errors
but i could open the additional settings to choose the card for each game and application
and the games that i could run were performing amazingly great.
Note: I had to stop the drivers from updating automatically by the MS troublshooter tool.
Just the problem now that i can't open the AMD radeon settings
and many games show errors referring that my card doesn't support DX11 for some reason like (AC Unity - COD Ghosts)
It's not the best situation right now but at least the R7 is performing with full power now!
I hope to find a workaround for the applications that don't run and all will be set.
Thanks for trying to help...i'll consider this as a solution ...maybe a temporary solution but it's the best i got for now.

Greetings @Daymare,
Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.
I understand that you are facing performance issues while playing games. Happy to help.
Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own?
Have you changed the operating system?
Recommend you to make sure all the Window updates and drivers are updated using HP Support Assistant.
Update the graphics card driver from AMD website and check.
As you notebook uses switchable graphics, recommend you to disable 8610G graphics card and only use Radeon R7 M260. This came be done using AMD system monitor. Click here to know more.
For other troubleshooting steps, please refer to this article for assistance.
Let me know how it goes.

Hello, @Chimney_83
Thank you for taking the time to help me.
first, I want to make things clear...
I have all the latest driver downloads that HP provides for my notebook installed and Hp smart assisstant shows no more downloads available.
and my OS is Windows 10 - 64bit
AMD driver updates are not helping... the HD 8610G is dominating when it comes to detection so i have only 2 options here:
1- install legacy drivers and have the system running fine but with a terrible performance since the driver is really poor for the R7
2- I install the latest driver that AMD provides for R7 that still shows unsupported hardware error messages since they only see the HD8610G... and even if i ignored the message it doesn't work properly and shows errors regarding unsupported hardware.
and like i said before i have the latest driver HP provides, the legacy driver and the latest driver for R7 which is Crimson Relive 17.1.2
it's always the HD 8610G is dominating detection and can't let the R7 be seen and if seen it can't perform as it should.
So the solution you gave which is disabling the HD 8610G is logically the right solution in my case, But still that AMD System Monitor only monitors my system but i don't see any controls to disable this card
So would you please guide me to disable that card and work only with the R7 M260, please?

Thanks for the reply, could you please check if both the graphics cards are listed in BIOS. If the graphics card is not listed in BIOS there might be a hardware failure with the graphics which could be causing the installation to fail as well.
Did this issue start after upgrading to Windows 10? If so, recommend you to reset Windows 10 without loss of data and check. Click here for assistance.
If the issue persists, please revert the OS back to Windows 8.1, as the original OS installed on the computer was Windows 8.1 based on the specifications of the computer.
Keep me posted.

Thanks for your assisstance
BIOS doesn't show much info but here's an image of what is listed...
But like i told you, it's working
Just can't get detected during the installation so there's no driver that works for both cards without a negative side.
Windows 10 isn't the problem because it's the same as on 8.1... I'm on windows 10 for months now it's running everything fine.
I still wanna try disabling the HD 8610G but i can't find clear instructions
I hope you can guide me through this
THanks in advance
