Hi @8882699467,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Notebook - 15 PC is running slow, there are several steps you can take to improve its performance.
Check for Updates:
- Make sure your operating system and drivers are up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security and check for any available updates.
Manage Startup Programs:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, then go to the Startup tab. Disable any unnecessary programs that are starting with Windows.
Free Up Disk Space:
- Use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool to remove temporary files and system cache. Type Disk Cleanup in the Start menu search bar and follow the prompts.
Run a Full System Scan:
- Use Windows Defender or your preferred antivirus software to scan for malware or other security threats.
Check for Resource Hogs:
- In Task Manager, check the Processes tab to see if any applications are using an unusually high amount of CPU, memory, or disk resources.
Adjust Performance Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System, then click on Advanced system settings. Under the Advanced tab, click on Settings in the Performance section and choose Adjust for best performance.
Clean Up and Defragment Your Hard Drive:
- For HDDs, you can use the Disk Defragmenter tool. For SSDs, make sure TRIM is enabled and avoid defragmentation.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- If you have a mechanical hard drive, consider upgrading to an SSD for significant performance improvements. Also, check if the RAM is functioning properly.
Check for Overheating:
- Overheating can throttle performance. Ensure your laptop’s cooling vents are not blocked and consider using a cooling pad.
Perform a System Reset:
- As a last resort, you might consider a system reset. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery and choose Reset this PC. Make sure to back up your data before doing this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
