I purchased the HP Rechargeable MPP2.0 Tilt pen a year ago. All of the nibs/ tips that have came with the pen have broken, and when I searched to buy new ones, the company doesn't sell them. I can't find a number for support to help me, there isn't a HP centre/ store near me to help guide me, and no one else seems to have any solutions but to but a new pen. I have even searched online to buy the nibs but none seem to work quite as well (e.g. having to hold it in a very particular angle to get an even line). The rest of the pen is working fine- it is charging and even with the cracked nib it still does the job, but I would like to be able to replace the broken ones. Is there anything that could help me besides spending another £60 on a pen just for the nibs.

Hi @derv2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. When you say “all the tips have broken,” do you mean they physically cracked, or that they stopped working properly (e.g., inconsistent lines, skipping)?
  2. Have you tried any third-party MPP-compatible nibs, or just the official HP ones?
  3. Are you mostly using it on a tablet/laptop screen or a drawing surface, and do you notice if certain angles or pressure make the nibs wear faster?

In the meantime, here are some suggestions that might help without having to spend £60 on a new pen:

  1. Try Third-Party Nibs:
    • Some artists have had luck with generic MPP 2.0 or Surface Pen nib replacements. They’re usually sold as packs of 5–10 nibs.
    • Be aware that the feel might be slightly different, but you can sometimes get a more consistent line if you experiment with softer or harder nibs.
  2. Rotate or Trim the Nib Slightly:
    • If your nib is cracked but still working, rotating it slightly can let you use an undamaged part of it.
    • Some people even trim the tip carefully with scissors or nail clippers to remove the cracked part, though this requires a steady hand.
  3. Protective Covers or Sleeves:
    • Using a screen protector designed for stylus use (like a matte or paper-like screen protector) can reduce nib wear dramatically.
    • This doesn’t fix the broken nibs, but it may make future ones last longer.

I hope this helps.
