(Same, translate with chap gpt)
My i9 is unstable, as soon as I perform multiple tasks that put a demand on the processor, such as playing a video game, having a music app open (Spotify), along with the browser, and maybe a code editor at the same time.
Not even my 8th generation i7 with a 1650s had these issues, although that setup did have liquid cooling.
I don’t install anything pirated on this system; everything is licensed, and yet I still experience issues like freezing when switching between apps, or lower and unstable performance in games like League of Legends. FPS is below 144, fluctuating from 124 down to 70, and sometimes even to 27.
When I check in Windows Task Manager, all components are running below 40% usage.
The CPU temperature is around 76°C, and the voltage fluctuates from 1.30 to 0.11.
My question is: What am I missing or not considering? What should I optimize or do with my setup? I know I’m a beginner, and I’d like to know what more I can do to change my situation.

Hi @ErmaMora ,
Please find the remaining steps below.
Test Hardware Performance:
- Run a CPU and GPU stress test using tools like Prime95 (for CPU) and FurMark (for GPU) to check stability under load.
- Monitor temperatures and performance metrics during these tests.
Verify Game Settings:
- Ensure games like League of Legends are updated to the latest version.
- Lower in-game settings and check if this stabilizes FPS and performance.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Disable or uninstall any third-party software that might be conflicting with system performance, especially any system optimization tools or overlays.
Check System Integrity:
- Run sfc /scannow in Command Prompt to check for and repair any corrupted system files.
- Check for disk errors using chkdsk in Command Prompt.
Reinstall Windows:
- If the issue persists, consider performing a clean reinstall of Windows 11 to rule out software issues or corruption.
- Backup your data before proceeding with a reinstall.
Note: Voltage Fluctuations: The significant fluctuation in voltage (from 1.30 to 0.11) suggests possible power delivery issues. This could be related to the power adapter, internal power circuitry, or battery health. Ensure the power adapter is functioning correctly and consider replacing it if necessary.
Driver Conflicts: Sometimes, even with updated drivers, conflicts or bugs can occur. Check the HP support forums or NVIDIA forums for any reported issues with similar setups.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and potentially resolve the performance issues with your OMEN 16 gaming laptop.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there might be a hardware fault. Contact HP Phone Support for hardware diagnostics and possible repairs.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @ErmaMora,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.
Given the details of your issue with the OMEN 16 gaming laptop, where the system becomes unstable under multi-tasking conditions, here's a comprehensive troubleshooting approach to address the problem:
Verify Power Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
- Choose the High-performance plan or ensure that Balanced is configured for maximum performance.
- Check the Advanced power settings to ensure settings related to the CPU and graphics are set for optimal performance.
Update Drivers and BIOS:
- Update Graphics Drivers: Visit the NVIDIA website or use GeForce Experience to download and install the latest drivers for your RTX 4070.
- Update CPU Drivers: Check for updates from Intel’s website for the latest drivers for your i9 processor.
- Update BIOS: Download and install the latest BIOS update from HP’s support site for your OMEN 16 model.
Check for Thermal Throttling:
- Ensure that the cooling system is functioning properly and that vents are not obstructed. Clean the cooling fans and vents if dust build-up is observed.
- Consider using a cooling pad if temperatures are consistently high.
Monitor Resource Usage:
- Use Task Manager or Resource Monitor to observe CPU, GPU, and RAM usage during the issue.
- Check if any background processes or applications are consuming excessive resources.
Check System Logs:
- Open Event Viewer (Win + X, then select Event Viewer).
- Look for any critical errors or warnings related to hardware or system stability.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
