Permanently remove HP Analytics service

Disabling the service only works temporarily. The next time Windows does a larger update it will re-enable all of the HP Analytics stuff.

I know because, like the OP, I've been battling this for about a year. Deleting or disabling it doesn't work, it keeps coming back. Apparantly there was some part you could uninstall back in 2017, at least that is what most Google hits will tell you, but in 2022 it is implemented as services and device drivers and there is no obvious way to disable it permanently.

It is spyware. It is an HP rootkit.

@ReissM: were you ever given a real solution?  If yes then what was it?  And I do wonder: if the problem and solution are entirely above board then why was the solution provided privately?

the 'private' solution was to contact HP support which I didn't get around to doing & certainly shouldn't have to go through such lengths just to remove their software.

For now, the "service" is disabled and hasn't reared it's ugly head yet. Will be keeping a close eye on it though.

In my case, I view windows auto update as a virus too, so I disabled it and didn't experience such things. Now I'll try delete HP via regeidt.

if I delete it from system32 where the file resides will it work

No, Windows has mechanisms to fix that. And if you hack those mechanisms the files will be replaced from the cloud.

It's seems to working using the same mechanism that Windows automatically uses to fetch drivers for new hardware. The hardware has a signature, it fetches the drivers and services to support it. I guess HP must have registered "HP  Analytics" as a necessary driver for something on the motherboard.

Aaaand it's back again. Noticed my mouse cursor spinning a lot & there it was HP Analytics service magically re-enabled & started in services.

Have a search for a Windows tool called "wushowhide", available as a zip or cab.

This tool is designed for scenarios where you want to exclude a certain piece of hardware from having its drivers automatically updated by Windows. I found that the database contained an entry for "HP Firmware" which I have now disabled: I'm happy to live with the firmware I have now until the PC is retired.

Note that you still have to uninstall and disable HP stuff like you did before, but with the driver update disabled I'm hopeful that they will stay disabled. Of course there's no way to be sure until I'm proved wrong!
