HP 14s-fq0000 Laptop PC (9VN14AV)

I have an HP 14s-fq000 laptop running MS Windows 11. A few nights ago I was getting off and a window came up asking for permission to run some HP software. Since it was late and I was too sleepy to look into it then, I clicked no. Is there a way to look on my computer to see what it was and make sure I have the right thing selected? Thank you!

Hi @kimybrown,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Certainly! You can review and manage permissions and activity on your HP 14s-fq000 laptop running Windows 11 by checking the following:

Security and Maintenance Center:

  • Click on the Start button and select "Settings" (gear-shaped icon).
  • Go to "Privacy & Security" or a similar section (the exact wording may vary).
  • Look for options related to permissions or app activities.

Windows Security:

  • Open the Windows Security app (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Check for any notifications or alerts related to recent activities or permissions.
  • Explore the settings within Windows Security for any logs or history of recent activities.

Event Viewer:

  • You can use the Event Viewer to check for recent events and activities.
  • Press Win + X and select "Event Viewer."
  • In the Event Viewer, navigate to "Windows Logs" and then "Security."
  • Look for events around the time you were prompted for permissions.

Task Manager:

  • Open the Task Manager by right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting "Task Manager."
  • Go to the "Startup" tab to see if there are any HP-related applications listed.
  • You can also check the "Processes" tab for running HP processes.

HP Support Assistant:

  • If you have HP Support Assistant installed, it's a tool that helps keep your HP system up to date.
  • Open HP Support Assistant and check for any notifications or messages regarding software updates or permissions.

Check Installed Programs:

  • Open the "Add or Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" from the Settings.
  • Look for any recently installed HP-related software or updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
