HP OmniBook X Flip 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 14-fm0000 (AK4Z1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

When trying to login to the computer from 'off' mode I get this message:  Please remove anything that blocks your camera.  There is no switch to block the login/Hello camera, I have cleaned where the camera light is, and there is nothing blocking it.  Cameras are 'on' in the settings.  I have to touch the screen to get the Pin screen to come on so I can login.

Hi @Esaud,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you’re facing an issue with your HP OmniBook X Flip 14-fm0000 where, when starting the laptop from power-off, Windows Hello shows the message Please remove anything that blocks your camera” even though nothing is covering it. You’ve confirmed there’s no shutter switch, cleaned the camera area, and checked that cameras are enabled in settings. You’re able to log in only by touching the screen to bring up the PIN option.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this:

Check Camera Privacy Settings

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.

Make sure Camera access and Let apps use my camera are turned on.

Confirm that Windows Hello is listed and allowed to use the camera.

Update Camera Driver

Press Windows + X → Device Manager.

Expand Cameras (or Imaging Devices).

Right-click your IR/Hello camera and choose Update driver → Search automatically.

If no update is found, visit HP Drivers & Downloads for your model and install the latest drivers.

Reinstall Windows Hello Face Recognition

Go to Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options.

Under Facial Recognition (Windows Hello), select Remove if it’s enabled.

Restart the laptop, then go back and choose Set up to reconfigure face recognition.

Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

Turn off the laptop, then press Esc → F2 on startup to enter diagnostics.

Run the camera test if available to confirm the sensor is working correctly.

BIOS & Firmware Update

Go to HP Support for your model and install the latest BIOS update and HP Support Assistant updates, as these sometimes include IR camera fixes for Hello.

For now, since touching the screen to bring up the PIN works, you can temporarily set your login method to PIN or password under Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options until the Hello camera is fixed.

I hope this helps.
