Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have installed October 2018 update of windows 10 and the windows through windows update provied synaptics driver for touchpad. This driver did not worked properly so I went to the hp website and downloaded and installed the driver for my device. The driver form the hp website worked better than the driver through windows update but in october 2018 update it also had some problems too. Like when I am using microsoft edge and switch back to other windows and then return to edge the running website does not respond to the touchpad. It runs through touch screen. I have not seen such problem in other laptops running october 2018 update. Can you fix it?

Hey there! @Bijay555, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Community! We are here to help you.

I will try to help you out, not to worry.

Before that, I have a question for you in order to assist you better.

Have you tried checking with an external mouse? Does the issue persist?

So let's continue with the troubleshooting now.

Try updating the BIOS and touchpad drivers on the PC and check if it helps.

Update the BIOS using this link. Click Here

Update the touchpad drivers using this link. Click Here

Try the steps recommended below.

Control Panel -> Hardware & Sound -> Power Options -> Change Plan Settings (of current selected plan) -> Change Advanced Power Settings -> USB Selective Suspend Setting -> Disable (both)

Control Panel -> Hardware & Sound -> Power Options -> Change Plan Settings (of current selected plan) -> Change Advanced Power Settings -> PCI-Express -> Link State Power Management -> Disable (both)

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps try the steps recommended below.

In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow. Make sure to include the space between sfc and the /.
Press Enter and wait while System File Checker scans for corrupted files.
When scanning is complete, the results are displayed on the screen.
If the file checker found and replaced any corrupted files, restart the computer and check the performance.
If the file checker did not find any corrupted files or found corrupted files but could not replace them, go to the next step.
If System File Checker finds corrupted files but cannot replace them, use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool. DISM checks the corrupted files; then downloads and replaces the files using Windows Update.
In Windows, open a web browser.
   NOTE:
You need to be connected to the Internet to use DISM.
In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth. Make sure to include the space before each / in the command line.
Press Enter and wait while DISM works. This might take several minutes.
If DISM finds corrupted files, it replaces them using Windows Update. If this occurs, after DISM is finished, restart your computer and see if the performance has improved.

I have taken all the actions mentioned in the suggestion but the problem of the TouchPad  was not solved.

The external mouse works properly. The problem I am having is with the touchpad gestures. When I am in any website like youtube in Microsoft Edge and I switch to another app or another program and I return to the Microsoft Edge where the youtue is currently running the touchpad does not work there, I am not even able to click anywhere in that website. But when I use my touchscreen to interact with the website it works. So for the touchpad to work again I have to either close the site and reopen again or I have to switch to other apps and switch back to the microsoft edge for the few times and it starts working.

I have tried all the recommende steps to solve the problem I updated my BIOS. My touchpad driver is also latest included in HP website of date:8/16/2017 and version:19.3.31.31. I have tried all the options as mentioned in the provided suggestions.
