Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm in the middle of updating my Windows 10, which I've tried multiple times and none of them succeed. While looking for solution for this, I find that I might have some old drivers which needed to be updated first.

When I checked Device Manager, there was one unknown driver, which was Intel Trusted Execution Engine (ITXE) Interface, under System Devices group.

I've tried to downloaded driver from HP and installed it, but a notification appeared at the end said : Device cannot start (Error: 10). I've also consulted this with someone from HP Support Assistant via chat session. Before we ended the chat, he said that I should try to download a driver from Intel: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27006/Intel-Trusted-Execution-Engine-Interface-Intel-TXE-D....

I've downloaded and opened it but it said that the driver doesn't match with the machine.

I also read that upgrading BIOS version could resolve the problem. I've tried that but the problem still occur.

Can anyone please help me about this? And out of topic, what else that may cause updating Windows 10 to its newest version to fail?

Thank you.

Hi:

See if this driver works...also try manually installing it if the auto install method fails.

This package provides the Intel Trusted Execution Engine Interface (TXE) Driver for the supported notebook models running a supported operating system. The Intel Trusted Execution Engine Interface enables the Secure Boot and provides services required for platform security features such as Intel Platform Trust Technology (Intel PPT).

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72200.exe

To manually install the driver, go to the device manager, click on the device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp72200.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

Then restart the PC.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know why W10 won't update.  There are too many variables involved--especially since you have already updated the BIOS.

If it is not too much trouble to back up your files and reinstall your programs, you may want to try a clean install of the latest version of W10 using the media creation tool.

Hi Paul,

Firstly, thank you for your quick respond. Unfortunately, after trying automatic and manual installation, the problem still occur. Though in the end of automatic installation, there's a message said the problem with ITXE Interface has solved.

What other solutions could you recommend to me?

And also, at my current condition, it is unlikely to do clean installation for the Windows 10, and maybe I'll put the problem aside for now.

Thank you.

You're very welcome.

Sorry that driver didn't work.

The only other driver I know of that might work is this one...

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the another driver. Sadly, this one gave me error message shortly after I start the driver, says: The setup program ended prematurely because this platform is not supported.

What else I can do about this?

Thank you.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

I think the only way you are going to get out of the dilemma you are in would be to clean install W10 and use the older W8.1 TXE driver from your notebook's support page.

The topic can be closed! Thanks to everyone who looked and did not help, but thanks anyway! The problem is solved very simply by downloading the driver from the HP site, then go into the BIOS and turn off the Secure Boot (disabled), find the device in the task manager where the driver is not installed, delete it and start the device search, then update the driver, search and install the driver manually, select driver from the list of available drivers on the computer, then install from the disk and specify the path to the TXE file, reboot the device! Everything.
