I have had the same problem for a year. HP replaced my mouse, but it made no difference. I think the problem is on the computer side, but I have not been able to identify it using forums and HP support, etc. I have turned off all the power management options in Device Manager, and that did not work either. I cannot tell whether it is the hardware (the bluetooth radio) or the software controlling the hardware. It is very frustrating, because, otherwise, the machine is serving me very well.
I have another problem, however, in addition to frequent and annoying moments of the mouse disconnecting. I have the system set so that when I am using the mouse (95% of the time) the Synaptics Clickpad is disabled. But when the computer awakens from sleep, it fails to detect that the mouse is not connected, and so it keeps the ClickPad in a disconnected state as well, so that I always have to get my mouse out of my computer bag and turn it on and off again to convince the computer to let me use the ClickPad. I don't even know where to begin with that problem.
