Hi @Galang244,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with graphic card missing on your Laptop.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.
Please follow the below steps to fix the issue.
1. Check Device Manager for Hidden Devices
Sometimes, the GPU can be hidden in the Device Manager. To make sure it's not simply invisible:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Click on View in the menu and select Show hidden devices.
- Look under Display Adapters and see if the AMD Radeon HD 6470M shows up there.
- If it does, try right-clicking on it and selecting Uninstall device, then reboot your laptop.
2. Check the BIOS Settings
Even after downgrading the BIOS, there might still be some settings in BIOS that need to be adjusted.
- Restart your laptop and press ESC or F10 to enter the BIOS setup.
- Look for a setting related to Switchable Graphics or Discrete Graphics. Make sure that it is enabled if your laptop has this option.
- Also, ensure that the Integrated Graphics option is not disabled if you're using it alongside the discrete GPU.
- Save and exit BIOS, and then check if the GPU appears in Device Manager.
3. Reinstall Graphics Drivers
If the GPU isn’t being recognized, it's possible that the drivers aren’t installed properly. To address this:
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the existing graphics drivers (if any are listed).
- Download the latest drivers for AMD Radeon HD 6470M from AMD's website or from the HP support page for your specific model.
- You may want to first try the drivers from HP's official support page for your laptop model, as these are tailored for your specific hardware configuration.
- If you want to go for the latest generic drivers from AMD, you can get them here: AMD Drivers.
- After downloading the drivers, run the installer and restart your system.
4. Check if the GPU is Physically Present
If the GPU still isn’t showing up, there may be a hardware-related issue:
- While this step is a bit more involved, you can check if the AMD Radeon HD 6470M is physically seated correctly, especially if your laptop has removable components or if it’s been opened previously for repairs or upgrades.
- This is not common but can happen with aging laptops.
5. Try Windows Update
Sometimes, Windows Update will automatically detect and install drivers for missing or unrecognized hardware:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
- See if any optional updates include drivers for the AMD Radeon HD 6470M.
6. Check for Hardware Failures
Since the laptop is older, it’s also possible that the GPU might be failing or has become damaged over time. If none of the above steps work, you may need to consider that the GPU might need to be replaced or repaired, though this can be quite costly for a laptop of this age.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!
