I have had my laptop for several years now and I no longer have the box/reciept/proof of purchase. I am involved in a class action suit and my laptop is eligible for a replacement, but the claims form is asking for some sort of proof of purchase. On the site for the class action lawsuit I read this:
"Required documentation is a form of proof of purchase, which shows the date that you purchased your notebook computer. Proof of purchase can be a sales receipt, credit card or other account statement, shipping manifest, purchase order, proof of registration, or such other documentation that the Administrator deems sufficiently reliable to demonstrate that one of the specified models was purchased in the specified purchase date range, along with the product identification number found on the back of your notebook computer and the date of when the notebook computer was purchased."
I am wondering if there is any way to find out when I registered my product, because I am almost 100% sure I would have done that the moment I turned it on. Thanks for your time.

If you registered it, you should be able to log into your HP account on the HP website and see the laptop and registration date. I am going through the same thing. My account clearly shows that I purchased it in December of 06, so I am good to go, if I can figure out how to print out the proof of registration.
So my question is, how can I print the registration proof?!??

I had a friend that was actually a part of a similar issue, and all he needed was the product number and estimated purchase date. You can find the product number on the underside of any HP laptop (usually says p/n) on the HP service tag. It is sometimes inside the battery compartment on newer laptops. Also, a good way to get purchase date is to check your bank statements. You will probably have to go to the bank and request for the time period of the purchase.
Hope this helps!

If you use alt and prtscr/sysRq
that should copy the last window your mouse was clicked in open microsoft word and use control v to paste the copied information into microsoft word. Then print it as you would any other word document. However if the information is wider than it is from top to bottem you may want to use .5" margins instead of 1" and use the landscape instead of the portrait setting. I just discovered this process a couple of days ago but it is awesome.
