Hello good day dear community, I wanted to ask about a problem I have, and that is that when I enter the BIOS of my Laptop (HP OMEN Gaming Laptop 16-k0033dx) I try to look for the advanced mode in the bios options and it does not come out, because I would like to increase the speed of my ram memories (I bought 32gb of 5600 mhz) but it only reaches the limit of 4800, and I would like to increase the speed, could someone tell me how I can activate the advanced mode in the bios?
P.S.: In the Omen Gaming Hub application I also do not have the overclocking option, and I would like to know how I can activate it, thank you very much to everyone in advance.

Hi @zRdxed
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To overclock your RAM and access advanced BIOS settings on your HP Omen Gaming Laptop 16-k0033dx, there are a few important factors to keep in mind, including whether the laptop's BIOS/firmware supports RAM overclocking, as well as how to unlock or enable these options. Let's go through these points step by step to help you achieve the desired RAM speed and access advanced settings.
1. Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates
Before diving into advanced BIOS options or trying to overclock your RAM, it's important to check for any BIOS or firmware updates that could enable better memory overclocking capabilities or unlock hidden settings.
- Go to the HP Support website:
- Visit the HP Support page and enter your laptop's model number (HP Omen Gaming Laptop 16-k0033dx).
- Check for BIOS updates:
- If a newer version of the BIOS is available, download and install it. BIOS updates sometimes unlock additional memory settings and overclocking options.
2. Accessing Advanced BIOS Settings
The BIOS of HP laptops can sometimes be more restrictive when it comes to overclocking, especially on models that are not specifically marketed as high-end gaming laptops or workstations. However, you can try the following steps to see if you can access advanced settings for memory:
Enter BIOS/UEFI:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Press the Power button and immediately start pressing the Esc key repeatedly (about once per second) to open the Startup Menu.
- Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
Check for Advanced Mode:
- Some HP BIOS versions have a Basic Mode and Advanced Mode for settings.
- If you can’t see the advanced options, there might be a setting to unlock them. Look for options like Advanced Settings, Power User, or Unlock Advanced Mode in the BIOS.
- If you don't see any overclocking options in the default BIOS view, it's possible that the BIOS version for your specific model doesn't allow RAM overclocking directly.
Memory Configuration:
- If the Advanced Mode is accessible, navigate to the Memory or Performance tab and look for settings related to XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) or memory speed.
- If XMP profiles are available, you can enable them to boost your memory speed to the rated speed of your RAM (in your case, 5600 MHz).
Note: Many HP laptops, even gaming models, may have limitations on memory overclocking in the BIOS, especially with higher-end RAM speeds like 5600 MHz. Some systems only allow you to use a memory speed close to or slightly above the default setting, while others may have stricter limitations. If the BIOS doesn't show overclocking settings, it may be a limitation of the motherboard or BIOS for your specific model.
3. Enable XMP in BIOS (If Available)
If your laptop's BIOS supports memory overclocking or profile adjustments, you might find an option for XMP (Extreme Memory Profile), which is a simple way to boost RAM speeds. Here's how to check for and enable XMP:
- Access the Memory settings in BIOS.
- Look for an option like XMP, Memory Profile, or DOCP (depending on the BIOS version).
- Enable XMP to allow the system to automatically run your RAM at its rated speed (5600 MHz in your case).
- Save and exit the BIOS (usually by pressing F10 and confirming with Yes).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
