Hi @KYLE791 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP Envy x360 laptop running Windows 11 is having trouble reading HEIC (High-Efficiency Image Format) and HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding) file formats. These formats are commonly used by Apple devices for images and videos.

To address this issue, you can try the following solutions:

Install Codecs:

  • Make sure your laptop has the necessary codecs installed to support HEIC and HEVC formats. You can download and install the "HEVC Video Extensions" and "HEIF Image Extensions" from the Microsoft Store. Search for these extensions in the Microsoft Store app, and then install them.

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Ensure that your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues. You can check for updates through the Device Manager or by visiting the official website of your laptop's graphics card manufacturer.

Use a Third-Party Software:

  • If the built-in Windows features are not sufficient, you can use third-party software to view and convert HEIC/HEVC files. There are several applications available that can handle these formats. For example, you can use software like "iMazing" or "CopyTrans HEIC for Windows" to manage HEIC files on a Windows system.

Convert HEIC to JPEG:

  • Convert your HEIC images to JPEG format using an online converter or dedicated software. After conversion, you should be able to view the images without any issues. Keep in mind that converting may result in a slight loss of quality, but it should allow you to view your pictures.

Check File Associations:

  • Make sure that the default apps associated with image and video formats on your Windows 11 system are set correctly. Right-click on a file, choose "Open with," and then select the appropriate application.

Update Windows:

  • Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated. Microsoft regularly releases updates that may include fixes and improvements, including compatibility updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
