Hi,
I've been struggling with this issue for the past month. The problem is that my touchpad/trackpad randomly becomes very slow and unresponsive. Sometimes I can’t even drag the pointer to close an app. It feels sluggish and difficult to move.
I’ve noticed that this usually happens when the processor is not under load. Strangely enough, when the fans start spinning loudly (i.e., under CPU load), the touchpad starts working normally again.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
I removed the ELAN Touchpad Class Filter driver from Device Manager and installed the latest version from HP's official website.
I attempted to downgrade the BIOS from version F.20 to F.19. The issue started after I updated the BIOS a month ago (though it happened rarely at first). However, I couldn’t complete the downgrade because the BIOS recovery USB couldn't detect the recovery files. I tried two different USB drives.
Performed a clean install of Windows 10.
Contacted HP Support by phone. They remotely connected to my laptop and checked everything, but were unable to resolve the issue.
Ran the UEFI Diagnostics. All tests passed with no hardware issues detected. This seems to be a software-related issue, but I haven’t been able to identify the root cause.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
