I'm having the same problem but my device is elitebook 840 G3  and it's not using VMD drivers.

I used the drivers in the file above but no driver is been detected as compatible with the hardware.

The reason the drivers didn't work for your notebook is because those were only good for the Intel 11th>13th gen core processors.

 

Your notebook has a much older Intel 6th gen core processor.

 

Windows should not need any storage controller drivers in order to find a drive in your notebook.

 

FWIW, I have zipped up and attached the Intel storage controller drivers used for the Intel 6th gen core processors:

 

I doubt this is the problem but maybe you will be lucky those drivers will work for you.
