I recently ran recovery on my computer.  When complete, I still had Excel, and Winword 2016, but lost Outlook 2016.  My original purchase had OEM installation of Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016, which included Outlook.  How do I find and re-install this software if it is not on my recovery drive?

Thanks for pointing me in the correct direction.  I went back to the Microsoft sight, signed in as suggested.  Under my login icon, I selected My Microsoft account.  From the menu bar, I selected "Services and Subscriptions" where the version of Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016" registered on my computer was listed as active.  There was an option to view the product key, but it was not necessary as the other option was to install the software.  The rest is history.  I pressed "Install" and got Outlook 2016, as well as other missing office products.  I have no idea why this software did not reload from the recovery run, but at least I have a solution, should it happen again.

As a side benefit, in my looking for the software key, I stumbled into the build info for my computer and have now recorded the specs for the computer and the key and version for my Windows installation.

Office is a Microsoft product.

Microsoft Office - Product and License Information

Three of the ways to “get” Office Software:

Purchase Microsoft Office when you purchase your computer.

Look for your license key with your purchase paperwork.

Receive a “free one year subscription to Office 365 when you purchase the computer (quite rare).  If you have trouble with this exact type of “installed” Office, contact HP Support for recovery options.

Purchase Office separately from Microsoft or other merchant.

 Please Read

 Microsoft - Activate Office

What if:  “I found Office already installed on the computer.”

Except as noted, any “pre-installed” Office software is a “Trial” version.

Trial software cannot be activated nor can it be “recovered”.

Regardless, Microsoft Office software belongs to - and is under the control of - Microsoft.

I don't seem to be able to find my software key in the documents I have.  The software package is referenced in the customer packing list as an item number, so HP should have a record of the key.  Any suggestions on how to get this?

You are welcome.

Excellent - and good news that the issue is resolved.

Microsoft is very good about keeping records of what is purchased / registered in Office.

They have records of every version of every Office product I have ever purchased - it's a bunch.  Smiling.

Stay Safe.
