Hi everyone,
I'm using an HP Omen 15 with the built-in Realtek audio card, and I've noticed that there’s no option to set the sample rate to 44.1kHz. The only available options in the sound settings are 48kHz at either 16-bit or 24-bit. I've searched everywhere online and through the HP forums but haven’t found a way to enable 44.1kHz on this device.
I even came across a post from someone with the same issue here in the forum, but there was no solution provided. Does anyone know if there’s a workaround or fix for this? I really need to use 44.1kHz as it’s the standard sample rate for my audio projects.
Thanks

Hi @rioeroi
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
This is a common issue with Realtek audio drivers, especially on laptops like the HP Omen series. Here are a few potential workarounds you can try to enable 44.1kHz:
Update Audio Drivers: Make sure your Realtek audio drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers directly from HP’s support page or the Realtek website.
Change Sample Rate in Control Panel:
- Right-click the sound icon in the system tray and select "Sounds."
- Go to the "Playback" tab, select your playback device, and click "Properties."
- Under the "Advanced" tab, see if you can change the default format to 44.1kHz. If it’s not available, it might be a limitation of the hardware.
Use Third-Party Audio Software: Some audio software (like DAWs or audio players) allow you to override the default sample rate. Check if your DAW has an option to set the sample rate independently.
Adjust Windows Sound Settings:
- Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Sound."
- Scroll down to "Advanced sound options" and check if there are additional options available there.
Registry Edit (Advanced): This is a bit more technical and should be done carefully:
- Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Audio.
- Look for keys related to the Realtek driver and see if you can modify any sample rate settings. Backup the registry before making changes.
External USB Sound Card: If none of the above workarounds solve the issue, consider using an external USB sound card that supports 44.1kHz. This could be a straightforward solution for your audio projects.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
