OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck1000 IDS Base Model

I have an HP OMEN 17-ck1000 with an Intel Core i7-12800HX.

I’ve been getting CMOS Reset (502) and BIOS recovery messages intermittently for a while. This year, I’ve seen them around 2–3 times. Previously, I could press Enter, and the BIOS would recover successfully, allowing the laptop to start normally.

Because this kept happening, I decided to update the BIOS using HP’s official BIOS update utility. The update completed successfully, and Windows showed:

BIOS Version/Date: AMI F.23, 21/04/2026

The laptop then worked normally for around 2 days.

On September 6, 2026, during startup, I got a screen titled “HP BIOS Update” saying “The System BIOS is being recovered.” The recovery completed successfully, and I then got “BIOS Recovery (500) – A System BIOS Recovery has occurred.” I pressed Enter, and the laptop started normally.

After this, I shut the laptop down, unplugged everything, waited about a minute, held the power button for around 20 seconds, then plugged the charger back in.

After doing this, I received CMOS Reset (502): “CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration, and the computer will restart.” I pressed Enter and was still able to start the laptop normally.

I’m concerned because these messages keep coming back despite the BIOS update to F.23 completing successfully. I’m getting tired of having to deal with these recovery messages and would like to know what the recommended permanent solution is.

Is there a specific HP diagnostic or recovery procedure I should perform?

Edit: I also checked the battery health using HP Support Assistant/HP diagnostics, and it showed as Normal. I’m mentioning this in case the battery condition is relevant to the recurring CMOS/BIOS recovery issue.
