I have an HP 15-gw0502sa bought just over three years ago. After buying, I upgraded from 4gb to 8gb with an extra memory stick
i don’t use it a lot but virtually since upgrading, every time I start it up, I get blank screen with 2 slow and 3 quick flashes on caps lock
i believe this to be a memory seating problem. When I reseat the memory, it starts up without issue but when I start up again, often weeks later, I get the black screen and flashes again. I know when I open the back and re seat the memory, it will start up. I do lock it in by the way.
I had the supplier look at it and I believe they just reseated the memory and thought it was ok. It’s now out of warranty
Anybody know whether there is a fix? Do I need new memory?
it’s not an expensive or powerful laptop but virtually useless if I have to open the back up every time I use it!

I have tried to update the firmware using two different methods, both say the best drivers are installed
I have removed one of the 2 DDR4 memory modules to see if one of them was the problem
The memory seating issue still seems to be there as every 3 or 4 starts, I get a black screen and the Caps lock flashing 2 & 3, indicating memory issue
I have probably only had six months of trouble free working since new
It was returned to the supplier (Currys/PC World) who dealt with the issue but it returned a couple of weeks later when the warranty had run out!

Hi @firebobby,
This could be a hardware issue with the unit and may need repair.
