Hi all.
I am a vyer happy owner of the new 2017 hp spectre x360 2in1 model 🙂 🙂 🙂
The keyboard layout i have is quite weird on the bottom line of the keys i have from left to right the following keys:
1. Ctrl key
2. Fn key
3. Windows key
4. Alt Key
5. Space key
6. Alt Gr key
7. \ key
8. left arrow key
9. up/down key
10. right key
the placement of key #7 is very weird, since i have an identical key on the 3rd row from the top right next to the "pg up" key.
They seem to be exactly the same, and i am used to having another "Ctrl" key where this key is. how can i remap the keyboard and assign this key to be a Ctrl key instead of what it is now?
Thanks a bunch.
Tomer.

Hi @tomeryogi
Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query in this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know how to remap the keys on your keyboard.
Don’t worry, I’d love to help!
There are many software's available to remap the keys of the keyboard. I suggest you download and install the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre software and you can remap the keys on your keyboard.
Please refer to this below article from Microsoft for more information.
Mouse and Keyboard Center download - Microsoft Support
Hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

It looks like you were interacting with @The_Fossette, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,
I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm at your service.
Considering, one of the keys aren't aligned as it should be, it's possible the keyboard was purchased from another region other than the US or UK, however, if it is within these regions and yet have a key aligned incorrectly, I recommend you Contact HP so that they may set up a repair/replacement service to get this rectified:
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get the phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.
Let me know if those steps worked for you,
If they did, that's awesome!
Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck

Hi,
i called the local support, but they were unhelpful, i must say i felt like **bleep**, i was treated like a criminal, basically they said:
This is how we setup your PC, deal with it.
Well. I am asking you to help me deal with it, i am not saying there was a mistake here (i have no idea why israelies choose to have 2 back slashes instead of 2 CTRL keys) all i am asking is help in remapping the keys.
I have tried to install the microsoft keyboard center but it is not recognizing the device.
So let me repharse the asking of help:
Help! microsoft's keyboard center is not recognizing the keyboard on my brand new hp spectre! what can i do?
Thank you,
Tomer.

Hi @tomeryogi,
There are many software's available online which you can use to remap the keyboard keys like keytweak, sharpkeys.
Follow the steps in the below link and check if it helps.
KeyTweak: Reassign and redefine keyboard keys on Windows PC (thewindowsclub.com)
NOTE: The above provided link is not an HP link and you can try the steps at your own discretion. I am going the extra mile to help you with the issue and it is not an HP recommended solution.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
