I've been searching around for a solution to this issue I've having but haven't found a thread that relates to my particular situation, so help would be greatly appreaciated.
I installed HP ProtectTools on a laptop and it configured BIOS to require a password before booting up. I decided that I didn't want that setup and since it was a fresh image of windows, a re-image would be a quicker and easier fix to this issue. However, the BIOS security features still remain and now all the previous software the was used to setup the BIOS security is no longer on the laptop.
How can I go about removing this security feature now that I've re-imaged the laptop?

the bios power on password can either be reset or overrided.
if you are currently being asked for a power on password and you aren't able to go past it, try entering random passwords until you get the system disabled msg followed by a code, reply back and i will give you the override code.
if you want to reset it though, you may need to open the case in order to reseat the CMOS battery on the motherboard as that's the only other way to get rid of it and start fresh.
