OMEN Laptop - 17-cb1008na

Hi there,

Out of nowhere, I've started to get a giant, very distracting 'caps locks off/on' message (and num lock). I've scoured these forums for any sense of solving this problem, but all the solutions point to settings that do not exist on my computer. I do not have a HP hotkey settings, ease of access doesn't have a 'make it easier to focus' section, etc.

I've not recently installed any new software, I'm using the keyboard attached to the laptop - I have a wireless mouse but I've been using it for months with no issue (and how that'd relate to a keyboard anyhow).

I'm losing my mind; i don't know why it's turned on. I don't know how to get rid of it. I write for a living, and this notification is distracting and infuriating. I need it gone. Immediately. Please, can someone help me find a solution?

Hi @Banhien,

Thank you, but the reason I'm asking is because as mentioned in my post - I've gone through all the discussions. Those settings do not exist on my computer, there's no accessibility (there's ease of access, but none of the options mentioned after), advanced keyboard settings does not have a typing setting etc. I've opened the onscreen keyboard options - toggle keys is not in the options and so on.

I don't know how I've triggered it, or how to get rid of it. It is massive, and right in the way of any typing I do.

It appears it's happening to a lot of people, I've seen many complain on Reddit. I've checked updates and there isn't one listed for last night on my laptop that I can see. Hopefully HP sees the myriad of complaints and unleashes a new update that fixes this mess! Insanity, to whomever thought people would want this without a way to option out.

Same here! I have tried everything and I'm going crazy... It also messes with my Caps Lock and now it sometimes switches on and off on it's own.

Guys we nee a selfhelp group for people affected, im serious its not possible to work like this for me

Yeah, it's getting in the way of my own work. We're at deadline and as I'm trying to proof articles etc, typing in corrections - this big stupid box gets in my way! And the random toggling on/off of caps lock is not helping either. HP needs to get this sorted ASAP!

Omg exactly the same! I have my end paper deadline tomorrow and I have wanted to throw my laptop out of the window so many times.
