I have just acquired a previously owned HP EliteBook 8470p which I am rebuilding.
The previous owner (who I don't have contact with) has changed the POST logo screen, which appears briefly on boot up, to display a political statement - which I want to remove and reset to the default HP Logo.
From the HP Technical White Paper (702342-001, Created June 2012) I have determined the following high level steps:
- I am running a BIOS 2012 generation notebook
- The HP EREPLOGO.EFI utility is required to make the change using the 'ereplogo /e' switch
- I run the EREPLOGO.EFI utility from the 'Boot from EFI File' option from the 'Boot Options' Menu
Questions please:
Is this still the correct means by which to implement this change?
The white paper and the SoftPAQ containing the utility (sp58176.exe) are both dated 2012. Are these the most current version available? That's 4-years old!
Thanks.

For anyone who may be interested, I managed to resolve the issue I came up against by using that EREPLOGO.EFI utility.
The utility was available for download in the Software and Drivers Webpage for my device (HP EliteBook 8470p) and I followed the steps outlined in the Technical Paper accompanying the download. The offending (in this case) logo was removed through use of a command switch setting submitted via the EFI Shell at Boot.
So yes it's getting a bit old but the utility worked beautifully on my UEFI BIOS System.
Thanks HP!
