Hi@Elle30,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing battery issues with the HP Pavilion Laptop.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • For Testing and calibrating the battery please click this link

If issue still persist then run diagnostics to rule out any hardware issues.

  1. Start or restart the computer.
  2. Press F2 repeatedly during start up to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility.
  3. Select System test
  4. Click Run Once.

Once the test completes, results are displayed on the screen.

If it passes all tests, continue to restore a computer back to the factory default using Reset PC from windows, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue.

For any hardware issue or repair please click on the link Phone Assist Worldwide

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello

Thank you for responding appreciate it, so, windows is up-to-date, not sure what BIOS is, but I am taking my laptop to the same guy who put in a new battery to follow your advice, as I'm not a computer savvy person,. However, he did tell me that the old battery was so old it could have exploded!😫 And maybe it caused some issues internally? As the new battery should have worked, as soon as I unplug the computer it switches of completely with the new battery installed, however, I shall ask him to follow your instructions, hopefully it will work, and I will let you know.

Thank you

Elle.

Hi.

So, I took it back to get another battery replacement,  I followed your instructions, and it's doing the same thing, new battery is not working stuck on 41% as I unplug it the laptop turns off completely.

Any other suggestions please?

Thank you

Elle

The guy I took my laptop said it was fine, once the 2nd replacement battery was installed I could see it loading.

I just did a system check myself it says FAILED . Now what does that mean?

Thank you

Elle.

Hi

So, not sure what or how it happened, but the new battery I got installed  is now working to full capacity, however, once I unplug it it completely switches of, doesn't make Sense, I have run a diagnostic test on the hardware and all comes back fine. Am I missing something here? It shouldn't switch of once I unplug.

Thank you

Elle

Hi@Elle30,

If the PC turns off when unplug the charger then it is a hardware issue on the Battery or the PC.

As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. I would request you to contact our HP Support Engineers and should be able to sort this out.

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options.
