HP Laptop PC 15s-du3000

Dear Support Team,

I’m reaching out regarding an issue with my built-in webcam on the HP Laptop 15s-du3000 running Windows 11 (version 24H2). The device appears in Device Manager with the following identifier:

USB\VID_30C9&PID_0035&MI_00\6&16c2d86a&0&0000

However, under the Events tab, it shows:
“Device requires further installation.”

I’ve already attempted several troubleshooting steps, including:

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the device
  • Running the Add Legacy Hardware wizard
  • Checking for driver updates via Windows Update and HP Support Assistant
  • Exploring registry edits and BIOS settings

Despite these efforts, the webcam remains non-functional and does not appear under Imaging Devices. I suspect the correct driver is either missing or incompatible with the current OS version.

Could you please advise on:

  1. The correct driver for this device and OS version
  2. Any manual installation steps or legacy driver packages
  3. Whether this device is supported under Windows 11 24H2

I’d appreciate any guidance or resources you can provide to help resolve this issue.

Thank you for your time and support

@anu229, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Install the Right Driver

Download the HP Universal Camera Driver for Windows 11 (v24H2) from this link.

Run the installer and follow the instructions.

Restart your laptop.

Update Driver Manually

Open Device Manager.

Right-click your webcam (or the unknown device with a warning symbol).

Click Update Driver.

Select "Browse my computer for drivers", then choose "Let me pick from a list of available drivers".

Choose Microsoft and USB Video Device.

Finish the installation and restart your laptop.

Check Camera Privacy Settings

Go to Settings → Privacy → Camera.

Make sure "Let apps access your camera" is turned ON.

Ensure apps like Zoom or Teams have permission to use the camera.

Check BIOS Settings

Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10 during boot).

Look for any camera-related settings and make sure it’s enabled.

Save and exit BIOS.

Test the Camera

Open the Camera app in Windows to see if it works.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
