A little while ago, I updated my HP laptop’s BIOS through the official HP support page. The update was for version F.48 Rev.A, released on May 7, 2024, and it was about 50.9 MB in size. The update went smoothly, but after it finished, I noticed something strange—my laptop’s serial number, product number, and several other details in the BIOS had been changed or overwritten. Despite this, the laptop seemed to be working fine at first.
Some time later, Windows recommended an update listed under "Firmware" in the optional updates section. It was labeled F.49 (with some version numbers like 15.0.0.0, but I can’t quite remember). I’m not sure if it was a BIOS update or just firmware, but seeing that it had a higher version number than F.48, I assumed it was an important update. So, trusting Windows, I decided to go ahead and install it.
Once the update was installed, my laptop restarted, and the BIOS update process began, with the fan spinning loudly—just like it normally does during a BIOS update. After the process completed, the laptop rebooted, showed the HP logo, and went to the usual loading screen. But then, it got stuck on a black screen, faintly lit, right before Windows was about to load. It stayed like that for about 5-10 minutes, and I started panicking, thinking something had gone wrong with the BIOS update or that it had failed.
I manually restarted the laptop, and when it booted up, it did so much faster than usual. It then showed an error message (first 0x00000f, then 0x00000e). At this point, my SSD was no longer recognized, though the HDD was still showing up. I tried removing the HDD and booting only from the SSD, but it just told me there was no disk found.
I reached out to HP support across different countries, but they just kept redirecting me to my local HP support, which hasn’t responded.
**Even if they did, I’m not sure they could do much to help. I tried forcing the system to repair the BIOS or roll it back to the previous version using a USB flash drive, but none of these attempts worked. It either repeated the same failed update or ignored my efforts to downgrade.
Now, I’m stuck with a laptop that doesn’t recognize my SSD, and I can’t seem to fix the BIOS or roll it back to F.48. To make matters worse, the serial and product numbers in the BIOS are permanently changed, which could be connected to these ongoing issues.

Why did you upgrade BIOS in the first place ? Please try older version

I have the same problem.
I didn't notice that this update was made from windows update.
So it's not something that I choose.
And now i can't use my laptop, and i don't know what to do.
There is no option to make a rollback because the bios doesnt read the rollback file.
Any solution maybe?
