My HP laptop is running windows XP and I want to know how to reset to factory settings for donating.

If you press the Esc key repeatedly while rebooting, that should bring up an HP Startup Menu and from there, you can try selecting the option to reset the PC.

 

But if that works, since no one carries HP Recovery Media for WinXP and has not done so for years, there is really nothing you can do then to reset it.

Thank you for replying to my question, but it did not work.  I also tried hitting F8 when the laptop was rebooting, but that also did not work.
