Hello fellow HP members,

For my laptop I have searched up a few reviews online and people have said this laptop runs pretty well and can run games. I tried booting up Steam and trying out a few difference games such as CS:GO and took hours to download and update. After going through that trouble CS:GO couldn't even start up. I recently got this from my mom, it is protected with a service, I'm not sure which one. I feel like I might just need to upgrade the components or change to a better laptop. Is there anything I can do to make it run better without making any physical upgrades?

First of all, the download time has nearly NOTHING to do with the performance capability of any laptop.  The speed is governed entirely by the bandwidth available through your Internet plan with your ISP and the performance of the site with the apps.  I have Gigabit download speeds and can download 4GB of files in under 5 minutes -- but I PAY for that feature.

Second, although your laptop will play some games it is not, stricly speaking, a GAMER laptop -- as those start at around $1000 -- roughly twice the price of yours, and those are for the entry-level GAMER laptops.  Mid-level cost $2000 and more, and upper-level cost over $5000.

Third, consumer laptops don't provide the feature of upgrading components to improve performance, like desktops.  Sure you can add more memory and replace the HDD with an SSD, but that is about it.  You can't turn a consumer laptop into a GAMER laptop.
