Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I tried fixing my camera recognition for Windows hello and it told me to uninstall HP IR camera on my device manager and then reinstall it through a link where I can download it again on HP. The problem is when I put my product in, there isn't an option of downloading the HP IR that I had just unistalled. What do I do next?

Thanks.

Hi @HungryJacks2009,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're unable to find the HP IR camera driver on the HP website, you can try the following steps to reinstall the driver:

Windows Update:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click on Check for updates. Sometimes, Windows Update will find and install the missing driver.

Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting Device Manager.
  • Click on Action at the top and then select Scan for hardware changes. This might prompt Windows to detect the camera and reinstall the driver.

Automatic Driver Search:

  • In Device Manager, right-click on the camera (it may appear as an unknown device if the driver is missing) and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software. This will prompt Windows to search for the driver online.

HP Support Assistant:

  • If you haven't already, download and install the HP Support Assistant from the HP website.
  • Open HP Support Assistant and check for updates and messages. The software might be able to find and install the necessary driver for your camera.

Rollback Driver:

  • If the camera driver was working before and you updated it, you can try rolling back to the previous driver version.
  • In Device Manager, right-click on the camera, select Properties, go to the Driver tab, and click on Roll Back Driver.

HP Recovery Manager:

  • Some HP laptops come with an HP Recovery Manager that allows you to reinstall drivers and software.
  • Search for HP Recovery Manager in the Windows search bar and open it.
  • Look for an option to reinstall drivers and select the camera driver from the list.

To assist better:

  • May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
