HP 14s CR1005tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased a new laptop (HP 14s CR1005TU) and at the time of delivery, the dealer setup my laptop for first use.

The machine came with Windows10 as well as lifetime licence for Office 2019 (home and student).

At the time of initial setup, the engineer created a new email id on outlook.com as I could not recall my existing hotmail account password.

I want to know if it is possible for me to reset windows and set it up with my original hotmail email id (now i have recalled password) and still get my Office 2019 (which was initially setup with newly created outlook.com email if? I tried to look for MS office licence but could not find it. Does resetting windows and setting up laptop with a different email id mean that I will lose MS Office, which came with the machine.

Regards,

ViBee

As far as I know, no -- the compressed image HP stores on the PC is the same for all the same makes and models, with the same OS version.  So, they do not add other apps that you bought with the PC.

First off, resetting your PC will remove Office and you will not be able to get it back.  The reset function uses a Windows image created at the HP factory and that does not include add-ons like MS Office.

Second, we are unable to provide detailed support for MS Office issues.  For those, you would have to contact Microsoft support.  You can most likely do what you want regarding passwords, but you would have to check with Microsoft to find out.

Good Luck

Thanks for reply. I understand that add-ons won't be covered in factory default. But is the situation any different if MS Office is pre-installed and offered by HP as a part of the machine?
