Hi @gladystackhouse,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "RUNDLL" error message you're encountering is likely related to a leftover reference to the deleted printer in your system's startup configuration. RUNDLL is a Windows utility that's used to execute code from dynamic link libraries (DLLs). In this case, the error is probably occurring because a DLL associated with the deleted printer is still being called during system startup.
To resolve this issue, you can follow these steps.
Check Startup Programs:
- Press Win + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
- Type "msconfig" and press Enter to open the System Configuration utility.
- Go to the Startup tab.
- Look for any entries related to the deleted printer. They might have names referring to the printer or its manufacturer.
- Uncheck these entries to prevent them from running at startup.
Check Task Scheduler:
- Type "Task Scheduler" in the Windows search bar and open it.
- In the left pane, navigate to Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > RAC.
- Look for any tasks related to the printer or its manufacturer and delete them.
Check Registry (Caution: Editing the registry can be risky, so proceed with caution):
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type "regedit" and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
- Look for entries related to the deleted printer and delete them. Right-click on the entry and select Delete.
Restart Your Computer:
- After making these changes, restart your computer to see if the error persists.
These steps should help you remove the references to the deleted printer and prevent the RUNDLL error from appearing during startup. Always be cautious when modifying system settings or the registry, as incorrect changes can cause other issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
