HP EliteBook 840 G5 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 11

I Just got an "HP EliteBook 850 g5" PC. It has a SIM slot but I cannot find the cellular setting. I wish some could help on how to resolve this.

Hi:

Every 850 G5 notebook has a sim card slot.

What 90% of them don't have is the optional and expensive mobile broadband (WWAN) card that is needed to connect to the cellular network.

The SIM card just authorizes you to use a specific carrier's network.

Go to the device manager.

Click to expand the Network adapters device manager category.

In order to connect to a cellular network your notebook must have one of these model WWAN adapters listed there:

LTE CAT4: Huawei HP lt4132,
LTE CAT9: Fibocom Intel XMM 7360 LTE-Advanced

If you don't see either one of the above model cards listed there, then you won't be able to use your SIM card in the notebook.
