Hi @kureiji_7,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Omen 16's NVMe PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD is running slower than expected, there could be several reasons for this. Here's a detailed troubleshooting guide to help you diagnose and potentially fix the issue:

1. Verify SSD Specifications and Performance

First, let's confirm the actual performance of your SSD using a benchmarking tool.

Benchmark the SSD

  1. Download CrystalDiskMark: This is a popular and reliable tool for benchmarking SSD performance.
    • CrystalDiskMark Download
  2. Run the Benchmark:
    • Install and run CrystalDiskMark.
    • Select your SSD and run the tests.
    • Compare the results with the advertised speeds of your SSD. If it’s supposed to be 7GBps and you’re getting 3.6GBps, note the read and write speeds.

2. Check SSD and System Configuration

BIOS/UEFI Settings

  1. Enter BIOS/UEFI:
    • Restart your laptop and press F2, F10, Del, or the specific key for your system to enter the BIOS/UEFI.
  2. Check NVMe Settings:
    • Ensure that the NVMe SSD is set to operate in PCIe Gen 4 mode if your motherboard supports it.
    • Look for options like "PCIe Configuration" or "NVMe Configuration" and set them to the highest available mode (e.g., PCIe 4.0).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
