Microsoft Windows 11

I recently purchased a Samsung T7 portable SSD to back up my HP Envy laptop w/ product number 6M7N3AV with an internal 1 TB SSD of its own. Samsung has proprietary software called Magician that optimizes its memory products including the T7. I am looking for others who have installed Magician in Windows and want to know if you consider doing so necessary, advisable or neither for maintaining the portable SSD. I am not interested in speed optimization so much as long-term storage of irreplaceable photos and videos. I know little about how to maintain SSD health and don't know if the software could cause more problems than it fixes, especially with regards to possibly interfering with my laptop's internal SSD or causing OS problems. Please advise.

I would think the only real value the software would be for a portable hard drive would be to check for firmware updates.

I have it installed on my HP 800 G3 DM PC in which I installed a Samsung 980 1 TB NVMe SSD.

I can check the drive's read/write speeds, drive temperature, health, and for firmware updates.

I rarely use it.

Yes, updating the firmware is my main concern although I failed to mention that in my post. Secondarily would be maintaining the drive health. As long as Magician isn't buggy, I'll probably install it although I most likely wouldn't use it very often either. Thanks for your assistance.

You're very welcome

I haven't had any issues with the software, and I've had it installed for over a year on my PC.
