I purchased my computer a recently and although it occasionally works fine, it has started becoming extremely slow, even in offline tasks like typing into the windows search bar. It can hardly run most applications despite being on best performance and task manager shows no background processes, as well as my fan not running and my computer being cool. I have tried to find solutions but nothing works or applies to me. Does anyone have any advice? It would be greatly appreciated.

We've got a treasure map of diagnostic delights and fixes that will have your HP 15-d5000 feeling brand spanking new inside and out! Let’s dive in and find out what’s making your digital engine sputter!
1. Check for Windows Updates
Go to Settings > Windows Update and make sure your system is fully updated.
2. Check Storage Usage
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) > Performance tab.
- Look at Disk Usage (%).
- If it stays at 100% often, this could be slowing down your system.
3. Check RAM and CPU Usage
- In Task Manager > Performance tab, check how much RAM is in use.
- If usage is too high, some background processes might be consuming resources.
4. Run Storage Optimization
- Open Settings > Storage and delete temporary files.
- Run Disk Cleanup (cleanmgr in Run).
5. Check SSD/HDD Health
- If your laptop has an SSD, it might be experiencing performance degradation.
- Use CrystalDiskInfo or HD Tune to check its health.
6. Disable Background Apps
- Open Settings > Apps > Startup and disable unnecessary apps.
- Disable SysMain (Superfetch) service:
- Open Services (Win + R, type services.msc)
- Find SysMain, right-click, and choose Stop.
