Not only is my serial number not recognized but I am unable to select the correct category in this contact form. It only allows for desktop categories to be selected. Regarding the serial number, I cannot proceed with any support functions due to the services not recognizing my serial number.

In some cases, in some situations, it is true that copy / paste does not work to transfer data to a form.

What?  It's just the way the receptacle is built, that is, the place in the form where the information is to be entered requires that you type the entry instead of pasting it.

In this instance, the reason that the serial number is not accepted is likely that the device (computer, printer) is out of Warranty.

 

What? 

 

HP Support accepts online submission requests for products still in Warranty

 

If the product is deemed "out of Warranty", the number will be rejected. 

 

True - possible reasons for the rejection might be more clearly stated.

Online Case Submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices registered and are still in Warranty.

 

Some (Most) regions display phone / chat contact information only after the case is submitted online.

 

Not every issue is covered under the standard Hardware Warranty.  Purchased Care Pack Warranties differ by contract.

 

HP is not a "general" repair facility: Requests for out-of-warranty repairs are usually not accepted.

 

If the problem is hardware, if your device is in Warranty, if your device is Registered, and you cannot submit your case to Support, let us know and we will forward a request.

Never post private information in the HP Community!

 

Thieves are waiting - do not just hand out your privacy to their keeping.

 

HP Support does not free-post phone numbers for HP Support on the Internet.

 

Your computer is not full of bugs and you do not need to pay a fee for driver support.

Out of Warranty?  What to do...

For those of us who are "Out of Warranty", or asking for help with an item not covered by the Warranty, submitting a case to HP Support is not an option.

 

Open your device HP Product Home > Select Category Troubleshooting to find help for common issues.

 

HP Support does not generally provide free service for out-of-warranty devices.

Our HP Community is not HP Support; we do offer online help free of charge.

Increase your chances of receiving an answer ---

Provide as much information as possible about the product.

For example,

  • Provide the exact model of the device and the Operating System / version
