My HP Envy computer 17T-K100 CTO had simplepass installed, something got changed/corrupted after win 10 anniversary update, tried to uninstall simplepass  but it says remove omnipass first. Neither program shows up in add/remove programs. Can see the files but no uninstall for either program. Fingerprint scanner still works to log in to windows 10 hello.  Stuck between uninstall Omnipass & reinstall Simplepass? Have already tried updating and retrieving files from back up drive. Is  there a removal program to get past this.

I found a HP uninstalling programs doc online, uninstalling program in the registry. I went into the registry and deleted the Omnipass keys. There were no other omnipass files anywhere else. I went to install simplepass, but it took 4 tries to get it working, missing dll's, string wouldn''t start. I had to go back in my downloads and get an old copy, then update to a newer version. Finally it's installed and working. Thanks for your thoughts.

I read about the simple pass fingerprint issue and wanted to stop in to share my suggestions with you.


I would suggest you to completely uninstall the “Omnipass“ and “Simplepass” and then try reinstalling the simplepass software.

  • Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
  • Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”
  • Then from the device manager list, expand the “Biometric”, right click on the entries you see and choose “Uninstall”.
  • Select the box which says “Delete the driver software..” and the confirm the uninstall.

Once uninstall process is done, go to http://hp.care/2dBYfcl expand “Software-Solutions” and download and install HP simplepass software.

Did all you said and after trying to install Simplepass again, can not proceed, uninstall omnipass first. Any other ideas?

Is there a way to uninstall omnipass and simple pass without going through add/remove programs? Neither shows up in list of programs.

I would suggest you to try and remove this program using Microsoft troubleshooter.

Go to http://hp.care/2dHImNI and download and run the program and then follow the steps in the Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter.

 

Alternatively, try the steps mentioned below to use Windows 10 built in troubleshooter:

  • Windows key+X - Control Panel
  • Search  "Troubleshooting"
  • View All
  • There is a list of troubleshooters, go through the list and select the one for install / uninstall programs.

Onmipass will not uninstall. Some simplepass items uninstalled. There is NO listing in add/remove prograss for omnipass. I can not reinstall simplpass until omnipass is removed. Have tried all the troubleshooter things more than once. I need a way to uninstall omnipass with out going through add/remove programs. Tried deleting folders with omnipass files and still no luck. Omnipass files are visable. Admin account is being used. Need some other way to uninstall omnipass.

Appreciate your efforts.

 

If you can't uninstall the program via "Add / Remove Programs", then I personally would suggest you use a 3rd party software uninstaller such as "Microsoft Fix it", "CCleaner" or "Revo uninstaller".

Simple pass recently stopped working on my notebook running Windows10. Resolved by:

 

Right click on start menu,

Select 'Device Manager',

Expand 'Biometrics',

Right click on the installed driver and select 'update driver',

Windows downloaded and installed a new driver.

 

Simple pass worked. On first log in after installation, simple pass required confirmation of password for Windows. No issues (so far) after this.
