i have an HP laptop connected to a Sony TV via HDMI so I can do streaming to the TV. When I want to do that, after switching the TV to the proper HDMI input, I also have to switch the laptop audio output to the TV, otherwise, there is no sound coming out of the TV.

Thank you for the reply, I have Faithfull and well used, most days, Model HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC, still running Windows 8.1. Even though I work in IT (sales and support of EPOS) and have done for many years, cannot find where to switch the laptop Audio. Path to this appreciated, have looked and feel a right twit that I cannot find it. Connecting screen output no problems, often use two screens with a HDMI to VGA converter, sound not a problem. Best wishes for the New Year and stay safe in these strange times.
