Followed steps for system restore.

After 3 hours of a blue screen and the information that it was updating the registry I forced a shutdown with the power button.

Now it or booup to a black screen with the mouse pointer and an occasional blue circle.

I had problems before but the 'advice' so far has only made things worse.

I can't use my machine at all

Wake on lan is your problem. F11 at startup or factory disk or rufus downloadable boot to start your pc. Once signed in, in safemode reset registry and your 1st network adaptor to default. Update as fast as possible. After that think about your security. If you did get a defective pc brand new then that means malware or intruder. Type your ip in adressbar and your router will pop up. Go to router homepage for default user and pw. Usally admin for both. Configure router for safety for hacker. Enble defender all the way get browser security app. Config all your system setting to your liking. Make restore point. Should be good. Im sure you already youtubed sleep properties, it sounds like someone else tampered.

Hi all,

Thanks for the help. I carried out a full reset and re-installed windows. I have also follows the security advice offered, just in case.

I do not fully understand the issue along with the install I deleted someof the 'free'software that came with the machine and this seems to have restored behavours back to normal.

I am slowly adding back in the apps / software that I had but as it comes form the windows store or reputable sources then I'm not expecting any more issues.

thank you
