@Mehluli,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

That error means Windows can't start because of corrupted system configuration files or registry data. Here are safe steps to try:

  1. Boot into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE):

    • Turn the laptop off, then on again. As soon as it starts booting, hold the power button to force it off again.

    • Repeat this 3 times — on the fourth boot, Windows should open the Recovery screen.

  2. Choose: "Advanced options → Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Repair."

    • Let it run: this often fixes configuration errors automatically.

  3. If that doesn't work:

    • Go to Advanced options → Command Prompt, then copy/paste/Enter each command separately:

    • bootrec /fixmbr
    • bootrec /fixboot
    • bootrec /scanos
    • bootrec /rebuildbcd
    • Restart your laptop.

  4. If still not fixed:

    • In Advanced options, try System Restore (if a restore point exists).

    • Or, choose Reset this PC → Keep my files to reinstall Windows while preserving your data.

  5. If none of these work:

    • You may need to reinstall Windows using a bootable USB drive (Windows 10/11 installation media).

    • If you have important files, remove the drive and back up data first, or ask an HP service provider in Zimbabwe for help.

    • If you can't fix it yourself, I'd suggest taking your laptop to a local -legit- laptop repair shop, or if your laptop is still under HP warranty, contact HP.

This "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO" stop code is usually repairable without replacing hardware, but it does require recovery and/or the reinstallation of media.

Kind Regards,
